Above are 2 pictures that I took 11 days apart. Top picture was taken on April 4, the first day we mowed greens. The bottom picture was taken on April 15. The winter this year was extremely harsh on our fairways and tees. The prolonged ice and snow cover did considerable damage to the ryegrass and poa annua (annual bluegrass), which compose a majority of our turf. Even with just a few warm days, you can see the improvement in color. Our new fairways on 14,15 and 16 which are Memorial Bentgrass, came through unscathed. By the way, the streaks that appear to be on every fairway and tee are from cross country skiers.
